The Future Relevance Challenge (Having No Future Goals Is Killing You!)

Nothing is more saddening than seeing your peers do well while you’re a just as hardworking just like they are. One thing I have noticed about anyone who has made it or had it big is the space in between when they did not make it big.

And it’s not rocket science. While you’re in survival mode, hoping for that new job, internships and everything, it is important you challenge yourself to think even bigger.

One thing that differentiates you from your well-off peers is their ability to see the future. While you are making short term decisions, they are making long term approach to life, hence they think different, act different and speak a different language. They know how everything is unfolding, and you my fiend just can’t afford to short think your decisions. You may do well for now, but they are doing way better in the because they have a clear view of what they want.

So the question then is, what do you want to achieve?

Reimagine Your Future, then live it!

Nothing planned over a short-term period works. I’ve seen it on many people than before. You have to reinvent yourself, see your future self now, speak like a CEO, an author or be whatever you see yourself in the future now.
It’s Not Going To Work Out Now
But trust me, when it does, you better be the right person, with the right people in the right place and right.
I want you to take a little challenge, it’s called ‘ The Future Relevance Challenge’. The aim is the see who currently fits into your future plans and if some people don’t fit, I don’t think they’re worth keeping, it is that simple.

The 3 stages of The Future Relevance Challenge:

Stage 1: Individual Future Goals

What are your future personal goals, to answer this, it is simple, you will have to be a certain someone to achieve your dreams, picture yourself as that person, an educated young man, woman, businessman, Accountant?

Evaluate what you are doing now:
– Is it aligned with your future goal? Are you reading enough on the subject? If not, it’s is not relevant. CUT! CUT! They’re not relevant!
Evaluate what those who surround you are doing:
– Yes, it involves family, are they aligned with your vision?

Stage 2: Career/Business Goals

Here, you need to evaluate who you wish to work for, or what company you are hoping to own, or build.

Evaluate what you are doing about it:
– Is it aligned with your future career/business goals? If not, it’s is not relevant. CUT! CUT!
Evaluate what those who surround you:
– Yes, it involves bae…
– Are they business savvy or career orientated? If not. CUT CUT! They’re not relevant!

Stage 3: Do You Know What The Future Looks Like?

There’s no point in looking for a job in bank knowing well that digital banking is the new thing replacing jobs. You are not aligned; you are not relevant. This is a personal test to check on yourself vs the world on an ongoing basis.

Knowing where the future is headed will enable you to seek new learnings, develop new skills. Right now IOT, Machine learning are taking over the world, and the best you can do is up-skill yourself in those areas because hey, survival is key.
