What Are The Everyday Habits That Drains Our Energy

  1. Consuming too much sugar and junk food
    You probably know already that consuming sugar boosts your energy for a short period of time. However, when that period is over, your body may become lethargic and momentarily ‘shut down’. Consume the right amount of sugar ever day. Do not overwhelm your body by excess.
  2. Drinking too much caffeine
    Similar to the sugar scenario. Yes, caffeine may keep you awake for a short period of time, but eventually your body will crash.
  3. Talking too much
    I don’t know about you, but talking too much hurts my mouth. I only speak when I need to. I never speak unnecessarily. It’s a waste of time and energy.
  4. Multitasking
    Doing too many tasks at once can become overwhelming. Split your workload into separate tasks. Write them on a list, and focus on one activity at a time. This is a more efficient method 🙂
  5. Laziness and Procrastination
    Being lazy makes both our brain and body tired. You are not keeping your brain active and engaged in complex tasks and because of this, you become drowsy and demotivated.
  6. Gossiping
    Speaking about other people’s failures because your own self-esteem is shattered is a very ugly thing to do. Not only does it make you look like a bad person, the act of gossiping is simply energy consuming. Don’t waste your time talking about other people. Focus on your life and your goals.
  7. Worrying about the future
    Why worry about the future when the next 5 minutes are uncertain? Why plan 5 years ahead, when in 5 years you will be a completely different person? Nobody knows what is going to happen today or tomorrow so focus on the now.
  8. Holding onto negative thoughts
    I used to repress my negative thoughts thinking it was a good thing to do. It really wasn’t. Repressing my thoughts made me crazy. I had frequent mood swings, I was stressed and anxious about the most smallest aspects of life. My advice to you is to be in tune with your thoughts. Listen to them and reflect. If you need to rant, rant to someone in person or on Quora. Never ever bottle your emotions or thoughts.
  9. Publicising your life on social media
    You don’t need to post a picture of what you’re eating every single time you go out for a meal. Why not just live in the moment? Put your phone down, give some attention to the person that’s with you and create memories. Social media has made us blind to the real world. Social media has taken the fun out of us.
  10. Complaining
    I don’t understand people who always complain. Complaining won’t change anything. Just get on with the task you need to complete instead of moaning about how difficult it is. Work hard to accomplish your goal. Complaining won’t magically solve your problems.
