Well like the saying goes sometimes we just have to accept that somethings are beyond us. The story of Jake reminds me of one thing, that opportunity ought to find you on the way or it will never find you, if you look closely you will see that the picture of Jake that wet viral is telling a lot of stories. It tells a story of persistence, patience and that passion can never be missed even in the midst of all the meme’s.

It is not every day that a four year old becomes an internet sensation, with more than 12 million memes created based on Jake Amo in more than 30 countries worldwide. I believe it is safe to say Jake is the youngest African to break the internet. What is more fascinating however is that his life is going to change forever from this experience. My friend said but it is a typical picture of an African child. What he missed is that there was no fly on his nose or the emotionally blackmailing background of empty plates, malnutritioned body and a white person offering a packet of chips to him… None of those BS pictures that aim to paint Africa out as a hungry continent surviving on the mercy of the west. What can be seen in the picture is a simple real moment of passion and dedication to one’s craft, something that most would not expect from Africa.

The young man from Ghana deserves a break, well I feel after we have laughed so much at the memes we should not forget to send a little something towards his education, pay back the funny!!

There is a page on Facebook ‘Jake For Crayola‘ that’s trying to help Jake become the face of Crayola Africa, please go follow the page and share the material while tagging Crayola under the hashtag #JakeForCrayola
