Now that the elections are over can we be real

taking-off-mask
I remember a few months back a lot of politicians and leaders in general where hiding in their little dark corners taking home fat salaries and doing nothing. Nearing the elections that changed, all the speeches delivered where somehow moving and the tone was promising. Leaders came down to listen and talk to the people who put them in power for the first time ever since the last elections.

“They only know us when it is election time” this might sound like some exaggerated statement but in all honesty that is true in some areas. Reports of Local councilors who move away from the areas to which they were elected to lead has surfaced and proven to be true. So if your own Councilor whom you elected abandons you, why do you think the national leadership cares?

We have become a nation that is driven by moments, emotions, trending social media posts and constant complains. This new tradition is dangerous and counter progressive, because whenever twitter keeps quite we forget and focus on the new post, and since politicians are aware of that they use that to lure us and once we vote them in, the local councilor will move to the nearest suburb and the national leadership will move back to Cape Town. As for the promises they made, they won’t even keep a single one. They will just pack and go, and they will be ready to come back and make more promises come next elections.

I am personally waiting for all this election drama to end, so we can discuss real, important and urgent things like LAND, FEES and DRUG problem, this time we talking action not promise. And dear South Africans so far the only sign of achievement was that of ordinary South Africans not politicians, if the thousands of student where to wait on politicians to fight the fees battle nothing would have changed by now, so now go out there and fight to make whatever is wrong right. Remember politicians have to lie to be in office, they have to make promises (not practical at times)
