I don’t mind being a team player. I’m just tired of being the soccer ball.”- Quentin R. Bufogle

Government says they are going to introduce a new NHI bill but those with medical aids must remain on medical aids. When free education is given, we don’t qualify because we have a joint salary or a salary of R500k+. So, we take our own kids with our own money to varsity and we get charged interest whilst also funding others and when tax season comes, increases happen, we get the increase but we don’t benefit from what we pay tax on? Then our kids join the workforce without any prospect of getting a job, because, you know, there are no jobs and unemployment is sitting at 29%.

We are the ones that are penalized for not saving, and when do try to save, we are told it can only be R33k a year and if it surpasses that, you will be taxed. We are the ones articles are written about, about how we are broke within five days of being paid, how we live on debt and credit cards 😩😩😩 come on! I know we are lucky to be here earning a living; however, we are the ones who work in difficult conditions in companies where we are not truly welcome and guess what? Government again, has dropped the ball coz, rather than truly investigate what is happening at these previously all white companies 😏 government would rather be blind, coz u know, we atleast have “jobs”. Jobs that they’re not securing because the economy is in a mess and at any time, we can be told not to come in tomorrow, coz u know, its shutting down😏

We are the ones who can’t afford properties and ownership, especially where we really want to stay because we also don’t qualify for Flisp, coz u know, again, we have Jobs 🙄 and truthfully the economy was never for us.

We are told that we are the middle class while they refuse to acknowledge the fact of us being the working class; therefore, we are constantly a paycheck away from poverty. We are the ones who like our parents, cannot leave anything for our kids because we managed to accumulate nothing other than depression, stress, addiction and debt. So we will be handing over stress to our kids. We are the ones told to ‘get a second job’, to complement our main salary, like spending time with our kids and resting, should never be a priority and when we take these second jobs, in an economy without enough jobs, not only are we “selfish” but we get consumed by our own guilt, guilt of not spending enough time with our kids and guilt of ‘vele someone else without a job needs it’.

We are the ones made to feel guilty for wanting to enjoy the fruits of our labour, the ones called selfish when we demand to be heard and assisted coz man we are drowning. People forget we also come from families that struggled, we are not meant to talk about what got us here because we are apparently here! Question is where exactly is here? What exactly does our Government do for us? What are we benefiting from this government? Please spare me the service delivery stories because we all know that’s a joke! We barely have water and our electricity costs keeps getting out of control, I mean R300 gets you 167 units and again, we don’t qualify for the subsidies.

Bro….I am writing this because I am tired! We are tired!
