Social media is a cruel world, it just proves people don’t feel what they type they can only feel what they say with their mouths. I don’t understand how a sane person can make a joke about a person who is struggling with depression and anxiety.

Did you know that 3000 people commit suicide a day, did you know that every 40 seconds a person loses their life to depression. Go ahead laugh it off, is funny right? What is not funny is that for every suicide about 20 more people attempts to commit suicide but fail. This people need help but they are likely going to find themselves struggling and fighting this dark battle alone.

They can’t share their experience with anyone because you find everything funny, you forget a million more people are going to see your tweet, you forget there are people who know what HHP is going through cause they are going through the same thing. What have we become as a society? How can we not be ashamed of ourselves for labeling people we never cared to listen to?

The truth is most people don’t know depression and anxiety are a state of mind, I’m sure you hear a lot of “chomi I’m depressed yazi” guess what most depressed people don’t know they are depressed, depression is not a mood, it is not a reflection of a bad day at work. Maybe if you can take time to understand what depression is you won’t laugh next time a depressed person shares their story. You won’t be quick to judge cause then you will understand what they are going through.

I hope you take this post serious and learn about depression and how to identify a depressed person, this way you will be able to save people close to you. Nothing is more painful than coming home to a body of your loved one hanging from the ceiling because you never cared to help them. Because you thought of it as a joke and a sign of weakness, it is a mental health problem so instead of you laughing how about you share one fact about depression on your time lime. Consider this a challenge.
